Bison Shepherd's Pie

This shepherd's pie is so easy and delicious. We use ground bison so that this dish never tastes greasy. This is a crustless pie that is made in your casserole dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground bison
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded colby jack can sub with cheddar
  • 2 cups mashed potato
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots frozen
  • 1/2 cup peas frozen
  • 1 tsp italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp creme fraise can sub with 2 tbsp sour cream plus 1 tsp butter

Instructions
 

  • Prepare your mashed potatoes.
  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • On your stovetop, begin browning the ground bison in your skillet with the Italian seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder. Add in the frozen carrots and peas. Stir in the creme fraise and 1 cup of the cheese. Cook until the meat is browned.
  • Pour the meat and vegetable mixture into your baking dish. Gently spread the mashed potatoes over the top. Then top the mashed potatoes with the remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
