This chocolate chip cake is a moist, delicious and easy to make dessert, perfect to serve with tea, coffee, or for any potluck.

  • 1 box yellow cake mix with pudding in the mix
  • 1 pkg instant chocolate pudding 3.9 oz.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 4 lg eggs
  • 1 carton sour cream 8 oz.
  • 1 bag chocolate chips 6 oz.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar


  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding, and sugar.
  • Stir with a whisk to remove lumps.
  • Add oil, water, eggs, and sour cream.
  • Stir until smooth.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the cake batter into a 9 X 13 baking pan sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake for 1 hour (or until toothpick comes out clean).
  • When cake is slightly cooled, sprinkle on the powdered sugar.


Note: If you don't want your chocolate chips to fall to the bottom of the batter, you can toss the chips in a little flour or a bit of cake mix and mix with dry ingredients before mixing with wet ingredients. This will help suspend them in the batter.
