Grilling the Perfect Burger for your Burger Bar
First things first. What are the secrets to grilling the perfect burger?
- The meat – If you’re going with beef, ground chuck is the best choice because of its tenderness and optimal fat content. For “veggie” burgers, the Impossible and Beyond brands have great flavor and texture, and are excellent meat substitutes.
- The patty size – Go big or go home. Make sure your burger patty is large enough that it won’t shrink to a size smaller than the bun once it’s cooked. A quarter pound patty is usually a safe bet, but your guest won’t complain if you go a little larger! Thick juicy mini burgers are also a fun choice, so folks can sample different topping options.
- The cook temp & time – With your grill at 400 F, you’ll want to cook each side of a quarter pound patty for about 4 minutes each, to reach medium doneness.
- The cheese – Once you’ve flipped your burgers, wait a couple minutes and add the cheese two minutes before they’re done. That’ll give you the perfect melt.
